I think most of the internet is a mistake and annoying to use. Capital exploited a new commons in its garish, narcissistic, soul-sucking way. This site has no Javascript, no frameworks, no hacks, no cookies, no newsletter, no subscriptions, no comments, no ads, no tracking, and no bourgeois decadence of any kind. Most websites should be similar.
I like the principles of Brutalist Web Design, but I find it too over-styled.

Imagine if every book you read was full of advertisement clippings, and begging to subscribe to the publisher's marketing list, and if you had to keep a list of the pages you read and send them back to the publisher so they could market better at you.
Technology should augment the human experience, not keep uncovering new and marginally better ways to generate dopamine addictions, harvested for selling ads for trash we'll throw away in six months.
